Independece Truth

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 22nd June 2009

As we approach the celebration of our hard fought independence just a few weeks away, I have been pondering how far we have come in the past 233 years. We successfully threw off the tyranny of England and forged a new form of government never before seen on the face of the Earth and forever changed the future of this planet.

For years our young country still struggled with many of our own difficulties. Small wars for territories, westward expansion and a bloody civil war to preserve this fledgling nation and end the stain of slavery all plagued us within the first century. Growing out of these struggles emerged a strong industrial nation. We emerged a nation not only capable of defending ourselves, but we were a nation capable, if not always willing, to stop global threats and liberate millions of people from oppression. Twice this past century we stood against massive global threats and by our sweat, blood and tears entire nations were freed. We survived great depressions and financial recessions always emerging a stronger, more capable nation. This nation has pioneered the fields of medicine, manufacturing, science, engineering and so many others. Our might has brought forth terrible weapons of war, but our compassion has tempered their use only to protect and liberate. Our feet first touched the soil of another planet and our ingenuity gave birth to much of the modern digital world. Our arts, music, television and music lead the modern world in creativity, beauty and skill. Our farms feed the hungry nations of this world, while our medicines heal the sick an injured.

In less than a quarter of a century, this young county of ours has grown to be the greatest nation in the world, comprised of the most generous of people and representing the strongest force for good this world has ever known.

I fear for this nation as our Independence Day approaches. We have abandoned the principles that shaped this nation into what it has been over the past quarter of a century. Today we move farther from the dreams of our founders and we betray their ideals with massive government expansion, government ownership of and interference in private industry and the usurpation of the rights of the States and the citizens by an overly powerful central government. We no longer stand for liberty and freedom. We are no longer willing to protect and liberate the innocent. We no longer have the will to stand against global threats for our own protection nor that of others. We have become a weak shadow of our former selves and we allow our fear of what others think of us to paralyze us into inaction.

Today, citizens of Iran die in the streets while they call for freedom and liberty much as we did just over two centuries ago. We sadly turn our eyes away from the horror, too cowardly to even condemn the actions or voice outrage against this oppressive regime. After years of telling these people to throw off their oppression and rise against this totalitarian government, we turn our back on them when they finally do. We, who possess strongest, most advanced military in the world, cower in the face of public opinion and let innocents suffer at the hand of a brutal government, just as we did in Somalia and Darfur.

Is it because we are so focused on the possible nuclear threat posed by the rogue nation in Asia who threatens to launch a weapon towards one of our states this very Independence Day? No, unfortunately not. Once again, when we face an open, hostile threat toward the peace and security of this nation and her allies from a unhinged, uncontrollable rogue state that potentially has the capability of delivering nuclear weapons to the continental United States, we cower and do nothing. We stand by and wait for them to act, at which time it may be too late. Just as before with the horrible attacks of Pearl Harbor and the World Trade Center, we want to avoid conflict at all cost while our enemies plot our destruction. If we have learned nothing else from our past, the one thing we should have learned is that appeasement of our enemies is the fastest way to cost more American lives than was necessary. It failed with Germany. It failed with Japan. It failed when Israel had tried it with the Palestinians. It has failed when we have tried it with the terrorist threats we face today. Appeasement is weakness.

I fear for the future of this nation, her citizens and all those worldwide who depend America’s benevolence, compassion and strength. What exists before your eyes today is a shadow of its former self, an echo of its strength and a pale reminder of its purpose and will. I will celebrate this Independence Day with some sadness in my heart as I realize, this could well be one of the last ones we celebrate, lest we offend some other minor groups of people who hate us no matter what we do.

Finish Them

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 31st December 2008

Today begins the fifth day of Israeli air strikes into the Gaza Strip. Earlier this morning, Israel rejected a United Nations proposed 48-hour cease-fire and continued its punishing air campaign against the militant terrorist. While the UN wrings its hands over the civilian casualties and humanitarian problems the Israeli air campaign is causing, Israel is building up ground forces to send into Gaza and finish the job. Good.

For starters, it was ignorant of the UN to suggest a cease-fire in the first place. This current conflict started when the previous cease-fire ended and Hamas started lobbing rockets into Israeli cities. What would be accomplished by agreeing to another cease-fire other that giving Hamas the time to regroup and rearm? No, Israel should give no respite to these violent thugs who prey on innocent civilians. They should obliterate them form the face of the Earth and take the Gaza Strip back into Israeli protection.

Gaza is no longer a Palestinian protectorate. It has been reduced to nothing more than and armed camp stockpiled with Chinese and Iranian made weapons and supplied through underground tunnels used to smuggle those weapons to Hamas.

Time and time again, Israel has capitulated to the demands of Hamas and Hezbollah. They have given land for peace, showed incredible restraint while under constant assault and painstakingly tried to avoid civilian casualties when it did retaliate against the aggressors. What has it gotten them? Shells and rockets raining into their major cities, terrorist blowing themselves up in malls and pizza joints and the condemnation of the insufferable and corrupt United Nations Human Rights Council.

I am sick to death of hearing people chastise Israel for her actions against Hamas and fortunately I seem to not be the only one. In a surprising change of heart, Egypt has placed its military on high alert and canceled all personal leaves, brining its military to its highest state of readiness. They are apparently supporting Israel’s prosecution of Hamas and have stated that they will seal off the southern border of the Gaza Strip if Israel sends in ground forces thereby preventing the escape of Hamas terrorist fleeing Israeli troops. Jordan also appears supportive of Israel and oddly enough, Hezbollah, who historically has joined her Hamas brethren in its terrorist assaults against Israel, has remained remarkably quite and still. This could have something to do with the warning issued from the Israeli Air Force that if it even suspected Hezbollah troop movements, it would immediately begin hitting their forces in the north. It seems that some of these countries in the Middle East are finally tiring of the endless violence caused by these radical terrorist organizations.

What needs to happen this time is nothing short of the complete destruction of Hamas. Israel needs to completely obliterate them and destroy their ability to regroup and rearm and all those people crying about the inhumanity of Israel’s actions, ask yourselves where were you when innocent Israeli’s were being killed by these terrorist barbarians. Did you protest and demand that Hamas stop their actions against a sovereign nation? Yeah, I did not thinks so.

So I cheer Israel on. Screw Hamas, screw the corrupt UN and screw an idiotic cease-fire agreement that would benefit no one but the terrorists.

Israel must be allowed to defend herself and her citizens. Would you not expect that we would do the same?

United States vs The Filipino Monkey

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 14th January 2008

Iranian Patrol CraftLast week the Pentagon released a video of Iranian speed boats darting among American warships in the Strait of Hormuz. Accompanying the video footage is a message stating an apparent threat that the United States warships believed was being broadcast from the approaching vessels at the time of the encounter. While Iran has repeatedly stated that the engagement was a simple identification exercise, the United States has expressed grave concern over the incident.

It now seems that the transmission my have not been from the approaching ships. According to multiple news sources, the US Navy has stated that after further analysis, it appears the transmission may have come from an unconfirmed source know as the “Filipino Monkey,” a mysterious HAM broadcaster that has harassed travelers in the Persian Gulf for years. This rouge broadcaster has been know to broadcast threats and obscenities to all forms of ships transiting the Gulf and it is not yet known who he is or where he broadcasts from.

This is a dangerous situation. With tensions as high as they are with Iran, their know support of terrorist organizations and their past actions against coalition forces in the region, a situation such as this could get out of hand quickly. If the Captain of any American warship perceives an immediate threat to his vessel, he is bound by oath and duty to react to protect his ship and the lives of his sailors. In such a situation, with Iranian boats within the threat zone of the warships, a rouge transmission like this could easily spark open combat. If this occurred, there would be no blame to be laid upon any commander protecting his forces and possibly not to be laid upon the Iranian warship performing routine identification operations.

There have been other incidents as recent as December where American warships sounded warning sirens and even fired warning shots at Iranian patrol craft that approached too closely. None of these incidents involved a transmission that contained a perceived threat to the safety of the American vessels. Hopefully, these situations can be contained and not turning to a very short shooting match against nuclear class warships and diesel powered patrol craft. It would not end well for the Iranians.

As for the claims of fabrications from the United Stated Navy, those are just a bunch of rants from the same people who think that Iran is an innocent nation not worthy of our scorn. Wake up people, they are still the enemy, even if they are not currently a shooting one.

Russia Arming Iran, Alarming US

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 26th December 2007

Russian S-300PMU-2 Anti-Balistic Missile Defense SystemWhat is going on over in Russia? First, we have Vladimir Putin staging elections, dissolving the active government and practically declaring himself king. Next we saw the rearming of Russian nuclear bombers and the resumption of armed nuclear sorties. Then there was the expulsion of the British Council from all of its operations in Russian territory just weeks ago. Now, we have Russia selling Iran a highly advanced missile system capable of intercepting and engaging not only most aircraft in the United States inventory, but cruise and ballistic missiles as well. This is a striking turn of events.

Historically Russia has resisted the United States in its effort to combat global terrorism and the spread of weapons of mass destruction, even though they take drastic and immediate action on terrorist organizations that strike Russian holdings. However, this is a drastic step in the wrong direction from them obstructing our efforts or sitting on the sideline.

With the questions still in the air about Iran’s nuclear ambition, despite the last NIE that stated Iran had abandoned its nuclear program in 2003, we cannot discount the possibility that Iran will develop a nuclear weapon in the near future. They already possess an adequate delivery system capable of reaching most of the Middle East and surrounding areas. One thing that could possibly hold Iran in check once it has nuclear ballistic missiles of either tactical or strategic range would be the guarantee of instant retaliation in kind by the United States and her allies. If you take that deterrent away by equipping Iran with an anti-ballistic missile defense system capable of intercepting retaliatory strikes against it, you might as well pull the pin from the grenade and toss it into the region yourself.

Once Iran has a nuclear capabilities and a means to defend itself against retaliatory strikes, it will seriously weaken the international community’s ability to apply pressure and control any aggressive actions Iran may choose to take. This also means that if it comes time to take military action against Iran, the overwhelming air superiority that they United States has enjoyed in the past may be at risk. This increases the chances that the United States would have to commit massive ground forces to achieve its objectives.

The Russian S-300PMU-1/2 Missile Defense System rivals the United States MIM-104 Patriot system and is capable of engaging multiple targets at high and low altitudes. The system is based on the SA-20 Gargoyle anti-air missile and can use either versions of this missile depending on which launchers are delivered. The SA-20A has a 143 Kg (315 lb) warhead and a range of 150 km (93.6 mi). The newer variant the SA-20B has an extended range of 200km (124.2 mi) and enhanced fire control and interception systems. Depending on which variant is used, the system is quite capable of engaging targets flying at altitudes of 100,000 feet over 120 miles away in low altitude, high altitude and ballistic flight. Each command and control module can control up to twelve transport erector launcher (TEL) with each TEL carrying up to four missiles a piece. Russia reports that the SA-20 missile boasts a 94% kill probability against aircraft under powered flight and a 76% kill probability against ballistic targets.

The deployment of this missile system should be seen as a drastic change in Russian foreign policy and a critical threat to the security of the region should Iran come into possession of nuclear weapons.

Democrats & Terrorist Cheer Our Mistake

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 5th December 2007

Iran has been in the news quite a bit over the past few days. In the recently released key judgments of the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) it has come to light that Iran may have ended its nuclear weapons program almost four years ago at some point in 2003. Reaction to this news from the left has been swift and predictable. Claims of another failed Bush policy and accusations warmongering against Iran surfaced while toner was still cooling on the NIE report itself.

Immediately we see leading Democrats commenting on more failures in the intelligence agencies and assaults on Bush’s demands that Iran comply with international pressure regarding the transparency of the nuclear program. President Bush commented on this report yesterday by acknowledging the report, but reminding the American public that this still does not change the fact that Iran is dangerous. He insisted that Iran come clean and what they had done and exactly what they are currently doing to the world.

The report does not indicate that Iran has stopped enriching uranium, the process which can yield weapons grade material. By Iran’s own claims their enrichment program has continued and even increased within the past few years against international demands for them to cease this activity.

What I find astonishing is the reaction to this report and its immediate acceptance as an absolute correct and incontrovertible fact by those who see it as advantageous to their own political aspirations. If this report is accurate, it means that all of our intelligence sources for the past five years have been horribly inaccurate. All of the estimates of their continuing development were apparently wrong, so how are we to be so sure that this one is right. How convenient it is for the Democratic leadership to be able to completely dismiss the last five years of intelligence that has shown Iran to be concentrating heavily on development and enrichment of uranium. Now we have one report out of many that says Iran has ceased it weapons programs and they accept this without hesitation as if God Himself had declared it so.

My concern is this: What if this is the inaccurate intelligence estimate? If we accept this NIE as fact and allow it to direct our policy with Iran it will place us in a most difficult position. No more political pressure can be applied against Iran to comply with international demands. Military options will become extremely difficult if our official position is that no nuclear weapons programs still exist in Iran. This could severely limit our diplomatic and military options available to apply pressure on Iran and give Ahmadinejad a free hand to pursue whatever avenues of development he desires.

If this is a valid estimate of their weapons program then I will be the first one to thank God that they have come to their senses. Assuming that this is an accurate account another question then begs to be answered: Why did they stop it? There are a few critical events that happened in 2003, but one of the most obvious was what drove Moammar Kadafi to surrender his weapons of mass destruction and abandon their future development. In 2003, after multiple warnings for Iraq to cooperate with international weapons inspectors and Saddam Hussein’s absolute refusal to do so, the American military quickly and decisively removed that totalitarian regime from power. If this is true, it may mean that Iran saw the lights go out next door and decided that the cost of perusing was just too great.

Whether or not this is an accurate estimate or not, what is disturbing about this entire situation is the radical reactions by the left. The Democrats have even gone so far as to suggest that President Bush has known this information the entire time but just used it to paint the perfect anti-Iran sentiment. Regardless, while Democrats are laughing and cheering what they see as a defeat for Bush, they are once again failing to recognize that our enemies are cheering right along with them.

Liberal Lunacy Analysis: Part 1

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 20th November 2007

I have been visiting some new sites lately and I still find myself shocked at the utter stupidity that has infested this nation and has been promoted by the left. I am still taken aback by the absence of intellectual integrity and willful ignorance that abounds in some circles is simply amazing.

Let’s look at what some of the left believes. I will attempt to take an analytical approach to two subjects today and I will approach more through subsequent posts.

1. The actions taken in Iraq constitute an illegal war.

This statement has many variations ranging from accusing political leaders of being terrorists and murderers to claims that the sole reason we are there is for oil. You may also recognize the famous moonbat cry of, “Bush lied. Soldiers died!” Despite all the evidence to the contrary, these people cling to the idea that this entire war was orchestrated by the executive branch to give President Bush a reason to invade Iraq.

For starters, let’s examine the legality of the actions. We invaded Iraq during the Gulf War under a United Nations mandate to liberate Kuwait. At the end of hostilities with Iraq, we entered into a cease-fire agreement with Iraq conditional on many things. Among the conditions of the cease-fire were the cessation of Iraq’s WMD programs and the cooperation of the Iraqi government with UN inspectors. For over twelve years and multiple UN resolutions, Iraq failed to uphold its end of the cease-fire agreement. Inspectors were denied access to facilities and eventually expelled from Iraq entirely. American forces came under direct attack from the Iraqi military on multiple occasions during the cease-fire. These actions became so severe as to prompt action from former President Clinton at times including direct military strikes on Iraqi facilities which were known to contain WMD materials.

The question of legality is moot. The United States had ample legal reasons for which it could have resumed hostilities with Iraq under the conditions of the cease-fire agreement. Not only this, but the fact that prominent leaders of both parties in our government were stating the seriousness of the threat that Iraq posed to us and urging the President to take action to put a stop to Iraq’s WMD programs, is so conveniently forgotten by the left whenever this argument comes up.

2. We should have dialogue with those we disagree with.

This would currently include people like Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong-Il and leaders of terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah and Hamas. The inherent problem with this is that you must be able to trust those with whom you have such a dialogue or at least have a reasonable expectation that you will be taken seriously. Leaders such as Ahmadinejad cannot be reasoned with. Seriously, this is a man who has stated that his goal is the destruction of the Israeli state, has denied that the holocaust occurred or even that homosexuals exist in Iran. We have to believe there is even a remote possibility of sanity in whomever we choose to negotiate with.

We cannot negotiate with terrorist states or organizations under any circumstances and we should not encourage our allies to do so either, as we have been doing to Israel lately. Nor can we negotiate with ideological extremists or fanatical leaders. Our history has taught us that conversing with these entities is pointless and only results in granting them legitimacy and emboldening them.

Appeasement to their demands intensifies this emboldening and justifies their actions. It teaches them that we are weak and willing to sacrifice our values for peace at any cost. Ronald Reagan said it best in a campaign speech during the late seventies. If we continue to give in and appease these aggressors, the day will come when the final sacrifice is ask of us and how will we be able to respond then when we have been so weakened from within by our own self-destructive behavior? We must show strength and deal swiftly with aggression and totalitarianism.

Dialogue and appeasement failed miserably with Hitler and cost millions of live for our arrogance and ignorance. Negotiation failed to stave of the brutal attack at Pearl Harbor, even though Japan was promising peace to us even as the planes left their ships bound for Hawaii. Our complacency and naivety cost us dearly then. Even when we warned them of the destruction of their cities, they failed to yield until we had wiped two of them off the face of the earth. Talking does nothing but get more innocent people killed. Action, force and strength are the only things these people understand and respect. We cannot negotiate with this enemy, thus we are faced with only one choice in the matter: submit or destroy them.

Those are simply two issues I have noticed where liberals have absolutely no grasp of the reality in which we live. Tomorrow I will cover two more. I invite anyone to offer intellectual challenges to these two points, if that is even possible for a liberal poster to do.

Iran Threatening US Forces

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 24th September 2007

BGM-109 Tomahawk (TLAM)Today marked the disgraceful appearance of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at Columbia University and it still remains to be seen if the terrorist sponsoring leader will attempt his ill conceived visit to the site of the worst terrorist attack in the history of the United States.

I have my own opinions about this visit and it may shock some of you to know that I think we should have let him go to Ground Zero. I also think that we should have told him that he was on his own once he left the confines of the United Nations facilities and that we would provide him with absolutely no security anywhere else on American soil. Next, we should have broadcast his itinerary on every available radio and television station within a hundred miles of New York. I imagine some resourceful New Yorker would have found the perfect vantage point to observe his visit through the crystal clear optics of a 14x Leupold VX-7 Rifle Scope. Let this asshat roam around New York unprotected and see how long before the Big Apple takes a bite out of him.

You have to give Iran one thing though, they are ballsy. While their President appears in public in a nation where most would rather listen to his eulogy rather than his ideas on global politics, back home in Iran their military threatens our troops.

“Today our missile industry is in very good shape. Americans cannot confront our missile capabilities. Americans should know that their 200,000 troops in Afghanistan and Iraq are in Iran’s range,” the daily Tehran-e Emrooz quoted Rahim Safavi as saying. – Reuters, Mon Sep 24, 2007 3:47AM.

What? Well, that sounds convincingly threatening enough to me. Bring it on you jackasses. You have seen how quickly the American military can destroy a country when it is unleashed to do so. Do you really want to tangle with us?

Earlier in the article he commented that Iranian technology could defeat anything that the Untied States currently had in its inventory and issued what appeared to be a veiled warning for the United States to mind its own business:

“Iran has now a strong intelligence system and missiles. We are closely watching the foreigners’ moves in neighboring countries by highly advanced satellite technology and advanced radars. If they enter our airspace or our territorial waters, they will get a fair response,” Rahim Safavi said.

“It seems very unlikely that foreign troops in the region could start another attack because they have been busy with the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and they should focus on that,” he added in comments carried by Iran Daily.

Excuse me? How many dead American soldiers does Iran have to be responsible for before we put them back in their place? How many shaped penetrating charges of Iranian design do we need to confiscate before we shut down the supplier? How many Iranian officers need to be caught delivering weapons to insurgents in Iraq before we give Ahmadinejad his very own personal Ground Zero so he does not have to travel all the way to New York and insult the survivors of that tragic attack?

This is ridiculous. There is a simple solution. Let’s test these vaulted defenses of Iran’s. We don’t have to enter their waters or their airspace. Place a few MIM-104 Patriot batteries on the borders of Iran in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Then one well placed BGM-109 Tomahawk missile and Iran’s ONLY means of refining fuel oils disappears in a glowing fireball. After warning them that this was just a punitive strike for their involvement in Iraq, we can then educate them that any attacks on our troops in either country will result in a massive aerial, naval and cruise missile bombardment of their entire infrastructure, starting with their nuclear facility and their petroleum exporting facilities.

When did we start cowering before these types of people? At what point did America loose her will to fight against those who threaten and oppose us? I think it is time for some of that cowboy diplomacy.

WMD – The Weapon of MisDirection

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 20th September 2007

For several years the argument has raged over what happened to the chemical, biological and nuclear weapons programs that Iraq was thought to have prior to our resumption of hostilities with them four years ago.

In the intervening years between the Gulf War and Operation Iraqi Freedom, United Nations weapons inspectors and agents of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) scoured Iraq looking for weapons programs and stockpiles of materials that could be used to reconstitute those programs. Some were found and destroyed during this time period, but Saddam Hussein constantly thwarted the efforts of inspectors and restricted their access to certain areas in Iraq, leading everyone to believe that Iraq still possessed the capability and will to develop these programs.

I will not attempt to argue with the idiocy that spews forth from the left about there never being any weapons in the first place. If there actually were no weapons ever present in Iraq, then Hussein had fooled the entire world into believing he had them. Yes, that includes our government, both executive and congressional, as well as the governments of Britain, France, Germany, Russia, Australia and many others. We even had specific targets we hit during the opening volleys of the war that were intended to deny him the ability to deploy these weapons against our troops. Advancing Army and Marine Corps troops wore their cumbersome NBC gear during the entire advance to Baghdad and were ready to don them at a moments notice because they fully expected to be hit with biological or chemical weapons. The fact that they were not surprised everyone.

My question is what happened to those weapons? Jenn over at ScrewLiberals posted up found a great article about General Georges Sada and his book about Hussein’s weapons programs. Sada’s assertions that these weapons were extradited to other nations, specifically Syria and Iran is disturbing at the very least and frightening in light of recent developments in these nations. Could these be what jump started Iran’s race for its own nuclear weapon? Were these the tons of Sarin gas that was confiscated off of al-Qaeda members in Jordan? Was this part of what Israel destroyed recently? If any of these things are true, then what else left Iraq in the days before the war? Where did it go and who helped Saddam get these materials out of the country?

I invite you to read this article in its entirety. It was a good find from Jenn.

Iran: The Endgame

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 9th April 2007

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Many people have wondered what point there was to the capture, imprisonment and subsequent release of fifteen British sailors and marines by the radical government of Iran over the past few weeks. Today, Iran made the purpose of that operation painfully clear.

Multiple sources are reporting on the announcement by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad today that Iran has begun ‘industrial scale’ enrichment of uranium in apparent defiance to the world community. Iran is claiming to have 3,000 centrifuges (ten times the number they currently operate) in place and apparently operational, although some US analysts have expressed doubts as to that number.

Iran Claims to Begin ‘Industrial Scale’ Uranium Enrichment
Monday, April 09, 2007
Associated Press

NATANZ, Iran — Iran announced a dramatic expansion of uranium enrichment on Monday, saying it has begun operating 3,000 centrifuges — nearly 10 times the previously known number — in defiance of U.N. demands it halt the program or face increased sanctions.

U.S. experts say 3,000 centrifuges are in theory enough to produce a nuclear weapon, perhaps as soon as within a year. But they doubted Iran really had so many up and running, a difficult technical feat given the country’s spotty success with a much smaller number.

This means that Iran could have the potential to develop enough uranium for a weapon by the end of this year. This is a significant shift in Iranian policy from resistance to the UN sanctions to openly challenging the international community. Some fear this will lead to a showdown between the holocaust denying Iranian government and the West, and they are probably correct.

So, why does Iran think that they can openly defy the will of the international community and not suffer the consequences? Maybe it is because the can and they have just recently proven this.

Britain’s weak response to the capture of it soldiers and the apparent unwillingness of their civilian population to challenge the Iranian regime militarily, even if it meant abandoning their servicemen, has shown Iran that any actions it takes will be almost unchallengeable in the current world atmosphere. Had Britain immediately responded to the Iranian actions as an act of war and placed military options at the forefront, Iran would not be reveling in the triumph over standing up to the West and thinking it can get by with anything. By presenting Iran with an avenue for committing this severe violation against the British crown and then getting off with out so much as a scratch, it has show the totalitarian leaders of that country that there really are no serious consequences for their actions.

Iran is betting that the United States and Britain will not eagerly engage them to forestall their acquisition of a nuclear weapon. Since that is one of the premises under which we engaged Iraq, and it is obvious that we lack the will as a united people to deal with the consequences which that has wrought, they are probably right on that account.

I would hope that Iran has underestimated the will of the international community to prevent them from getting a nuclear weapon. However, due to the apathetic response to the taking of the British sailors and the pandering of politician at home and abroad to appease terrorist states such as Iran rather than confront them militarily, I doubt this to be the case.

Once again, America may stand alone against the face of genocidal oppression, or we may just lie down and take it. I pray that God gives us the strength and wisdom to counter this threat before it is too late.

Judge this Vote

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 16th February 2007

As the House of Representatives debates the worthless measure of a non-binding resolution against the mission that our soldiers are trying to accomplish, we learn that the Senate will do the same disgraceful thing tomorrow. I have earlier posted my feeling on the treachery behind a resolution that makes the feeble attempt at claiming to support the troops but not their mission, so I will not go into great detail on that again.

The one thing I will note is that the tightened security, the lifting of the strict rules of engagement and the troops already beginning to deploy to Iraq seem to be making a huge difference already. According to reports from Iraq, Moqtada al-Sadr has ordered that the leaders of his Mahdi Army to flee Iraq and informed the Iraq government that “eager for the stability of the state and the success of the security plan”, according to Iraqi President, Jalal Talabani. There were also reports of stepped up US and Iraqi operations meeting little or no resistance in their efforts to secure Baghdad over the past few days. What I say at this point is fine, go ahead and vote against our President, his commitment, our service men and their mission. Go on record as having opposed this troop surge and the reinforcement of our forces. When this succeeds in reducing the level of violence in Baghdad and allows the Iraqi government to get a firm grip on the security of their country, we will remember this vote.

In recognition of the symbolism of this resolution and the apparent will of Hillary Clinton to make it her mission to be the next President of the United States of America, I would hereby like to announce my full support for her. That is correct I support Hillary Clinton, one hundred percent. I simply do not support her mission or what she is trying to accomplish.

See how stupid that sounds? No think how that must sound to our soldiers?
