The Truth of ‘Change’

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 7th March 2008

After watching the video I posted yesterday, I began giving some serious thought to what it could mean to this country if someone like Barack Obama is allowed to weaken our military as he plans. With the ever changing world we live in where serious conflicts can arise in hours and affect the security of the United States or the freedom of millions, the very last thing we want to do is diminish our technological advantages, readiness levels and the exception efficiency with which we can deal with our enemies.

Contrary to the popular belief of the Marxist left, our military has been the symbol of liberation and freedom since World War I and beyond. Throughout history we have come to the aid of those who could not help themselves or who faced aggression from totalitarian regimes. We broke the trench lines of World War I to help our allies reclaim Europe. During World War II we stormed the beaches of Normandy, climbed the volcanic peaks of the Pacific and endured the freezing battlefields of Bastogne to liberate Europe and Asia from brutal oppression. We held the line in Korea to keep those who desire liberty free from those who wish domination. Even in the hell of Southeast Asia, we fought to prevent communism from dominating the free people of South Vietnam. We liberated the tiny nation of Kuwait and protected the other nations in the region from the aggression of Saddam Hussein. There our countless other times when we answered the call: Kosovo, Panama, Somalia, Grenada, etc. We have never refused the plight of liberty or shied from a plea for help. We cannot start now.

Our military has never failed to answer the call to defend freedom. Nor have our soldiers ever failed the call to come to the aid of those in need. Even when defeated in Vietnam, it was not their failure, but our own that cost the freedom of millions. Americans should show shame for Vietnam. Not for our brave soldiers who answered when their country called; not for the fallen who never returned to their lives or loved ones and not for the country that sent them to defend those who faced the onslaught of oppression. We should feel a deepening shame for our actions here. We should feel shame for the betrayal of our soldiers, for the betrayal of our principals and for the shallowness that we showed in our callous disregard for the sacrifices made by our sons in the name of liberty and freedom for others.

I watch that video and I see a man who would cripple our military’s strength. I see someone who would not have the spine to stand up to aggression. I see an appeaser. I see a Chamberlain. I see an embarrassment and a failure on our part if we elect this man to be responsible for our military. I see someone who will betray our men and women in service to this nation, just as we did during Vietnam. I see a coward.

With today’s current conflicts, we need a President who will fully support our military, invest in advanced technologies to protect them and develop weapons systems that can deal devastating force to our enemies with as little risk to our soldiers as possible. Our military used to be the most feared force on the planet, even unto our enemies that out numbered us many times over. Russia was forced to keep a military force approximately three times the size of ours because they feared the superiority of our forces. We should be looking at a man who will reconstitute this fear in our enemies, not tell them that we will disarm and want to talk. Had Russia ever sensed a weakness in us, they would have struck hard and fast. By showing them the strength and resolve to defeat them at all costs, we prevented the fight from ever occurring. Peace through strength.

Within the last few days, Ecuador, Venezuela and Nicaragua have severed diplomatic ties with Columbia. Venezuela has mobilized ten tank battalions and moved them into position along the Columbian border in response to a Columbian raid into Ecuador to eliminate Farc rebels who were striking targets within Columbia. What will happen if tensions worsen and the socialist nations aligned against Columbia surge troops into her border? Will we respond to an ally in need, or will we let them fall to avoid getting into another conflict?

After all the assistance that Columbia has provided in our struggle with narcotics in this nation, we are indebted to them and obliged to assist them if they request it. Should we turn our back on a friend or will we rally to the cause once again to defend liberty against aggression? If we do fail to defend our allies, why would any nation feel that they can trust us in any diplomatic avenue? Right now, all free nations of the world know that if they are faced with aggression and oppression, the United States of America will rally to their defense. What has become of this nation when we have abandoned our core principals of freedom and refuse to do that?

When that call comes into the Whitehouse at 3:00AM in the morning, who will you want to answer the call? The man in the video from yesterday? I think not.

Socialism Failing? Say it ain’t so, Hugo…

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 5th September 2007

After reading Jonathan’s article over at Crush Liberalism, I decided to look into the faltering economy of Venezuela myself. What I found was not a faltering economy at all. It is more similar to one flopping about like a fish out of water struggling with it’s last dying breath.

As this Wall Street Journal shows:

“Inflation is running at 19%, according to the Venezuelan government, though many private economists say the rate is more like 25%, given the increasing role of a black market in hard-to-obtain goods. Partly as a result, the bolívar, officially fixed at 2,150 per dollar, has lost more than half its value on the black market.”

“While the bolívar is weakening, many other oil nations are watching their currencies get stronger. The explanation for the discrepancy lies, at least in part, in Mr. Chávez’s economic policies. His attempt to manage the economy for the benefit of the poor has produced unforeseen problems, which he has treated with unorthodox solutions that in turn have created new problems.

Since 2003, Mr. Chávez has more than doubled government spending on free medical care, higher salaries, gasoline subsidies and other services. That created more demand for goods and services, which fueled inflation. In response, Mr. Chávez expanded price controls, which now cover meat, sugar, eggs, milk and other products. That led to food shortages as producers balked at selling their goods at the mandated prices. The shortages produced a black market, where prices have soared.”

(<a href=”http://online.wsj.com/article/SB118817255017309334.html?mod=googlenews_wsj” title=”Venezuelans Chase Dollars
Amid Worries Over Economy”>Entire Article)

What expaned social programs and engineering your economy for the poor leads to economic instability and an ultimate catastrophe? No way. That is not what the Democrats tell us. They want us to think that it is government’s responsibility to take care of anybody and everybody. Look at how they want to bail out the borrowers affected by the subprime lending collapse and let the lending companies suffer the brunt of the consequences. They want you to think that it is the government’s business to regulate to death and price fix all the evil big capatilist companies. They want you to believe that more government involvement and more social programs are the answer when they are clearly not.

Hey people, take a look at the success record of socialism. It has none. It has been a 100% failure every time and in every place it has been tried. You cannot fix poverty with socialism. You will only succeed in maginfying its effects and spreading it to your entire populace.

Or you can elect more Democrats and we can follow the example set by Hugo Chavez. Then, in four years, when $10 will only buy what $2.50 will today, see how happy you are. When your little girl dies of pneumonia because you couldn’t get her into see a doctor for six weeks, you can brag about how everyone has healthcare. When you have nothing to call your own because the Democrat Socialist have done away with private ownership, let’s talk again.

Socialism, socialist progams and the entitlement society are miserable failures and anyone who believes otherwise is a blithering idiot.

Socialism on the Rise, Democracy’s Demise

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 30th May 2007

We have seen a strong socialist movement among the Democratic Party over the past few decades. Never before has that movement been so blatant and in the open as it is today. With Presidential hopeful Barack Obama proposing an enormous socialized healthcare program and Hillary Clinton commenting that she wants to move away from a system of private ownership to a more community owned society, the tenants of socialism are now main campaign focuses for Democratic candidates. It seems that even now in our very own country, democracy is on the bargaining table if it secures you political advantage or power.

In recent months we have seen celebrities traveling to communist and socialist countries in an attempt to tell us how good these benevolent governments are. The images of Danny Glover hugging Hugo Chavez and the putrid claims from Michael Moore that the Cuban healthcare system is far superior to American medicine are just two of the more recent examples.

Well let us take a look at socialism and communism versus capitalism and democracy and see exactly what each gets you.

I will first start with democracy and capitalism. In the very short lifespan of this nation, we have risen to be one of the most powerful nations on the planet. Technologically, socially and economically we far surpass much older nations. We have an abundance of personally freedoms which far exceed any other nation on the planet. We have a higher standard of living for the people in this nation who are considered poor than many nations have for their upper middle classes. We have technological prowess that can barely be equaled. We have had in our past the manufacturing capacity within our borders that equaled the world as a whole, even though that has waned in recent years. We generously give of ourselves to others in time of need or crisis because we have been blessed with such abundance. We are the greatest voice for freedom and good in the world. This is what capitalism and democracy has brought this great nation; a free society with the highest standards of living in the world.

As for socialism and communism, there are few examples of success and many examples of failure. The primary example of the complete failure of a communist/socialist society was the Soviet Union. At the end of its life, the Soviet Union was one of the most powerful nations on the planet militarily, but lacked the basic means of supporting its own population. It was a country of harsh oppression and severely limited personal freedoms. It was a country with stagnant technological growth in all non-military areas and whose economy was barely existent. Today’s shining examples of socialism are no better. Just look at the recent developments in Venezuela. In a paranoid reaction to vocal disapproval of the government, Hugo Chavez has shutdown an opposition aligned television station and threatened to go after others. Riots erupted in the streets of this socialist paradise when Chavez shut down the first station and warned the remaining opposition station to take a tranquilizer and slow down or he would slow them down. This is what socialism brings you, oppression of liberties, elimination of opposing views and stagnant social, economical and technological growth.

Capitalism promotes development, innovation and discovery. Communism promotes stagnation and oppression. The biggest thing to remember about these two political ideologies is that socialism/communism has failed almost every time it has been attempted. Where it continues to exist you will find an oppressive government at the reins, oppressing liberties and holding its country together with threats of violence and imprisonment. Capitalism and democracy have tended to flourish in the societies where they were sown. Where they exists today you will typically find free societies with many personal liberties, robust economies and high standards of living.

I think it important to remember this when political candidates start to field socialist ideals in their campaigns. Socialism and socialist tenants are a direct threat to our way of life, our freedoms and our prosperity. The ideas of redistribution of wealth, socialized healthcare, abolition of private ownership and any program where the government controls aspects of your life will threaten your freedom. Look closely at the candidates on the left. It is time we started attacking socialism where we find it.

More to come…

The Looming War

Posted by Concerned Citizen on 20th September 2006

If this does not scare you, wake the hell up!There is cause for great concern in the world today. Like the slow swell of a dormant volcano, it is hard to judge exactly just how dangerous the world is. Then we have weeks like this one where the seismic tremors signal the sleeping giant’s warning of what is to come.

This week has provided some shocking realisms that I am afraid many in this country are still ignoring. Last week we commemorated the fifth anniversary of a chilling wake up call, yet some still sleep while the threat looms before our nation. In the past few days we have seen the violent face of our enemy surface for nothing more that a speech made by a world leader. We have seen a nun, shot in the back by cowards while she prayed. The leader of the Roman Catholic Church is now under triple guard because the world of Islam is calling for his assassinnation. Christian churches are burning, lit by the followers of the peaceful religion of Islam. All this is occurring because someone dared to suggest that Islam is a violent religion. I guess they proved them wrong?

Now we come to the crux of the matter. Within the last few days, we have heard both the sociopathic drivel of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the opportunistic rants of Hugo Chavez in their speeches before the United Nations, which landed both dictators standing ovations. These pretentious hypocrites talk of peace and democracy, challenging the Unites States with charges of expansionism and quests for world domination. Ahmadinejad’s tirade was laced with religious rhetoric culminating in predications about the 12th Iman returning to unite all humanity under one rule. What would the world have done if President Bush had addressed the assembly by praying for God to deliver us from the violence of Islamic fundamentalist and hasten the return of Christ and the end of time? If he escaped the building intact, we would have been ridiculed and called extremists. However, allow Chavez to refer to our President as Satan and claim that the podium still smells of sulfur and he is cheered. Let, Ahmadinejad blame all the world’s problems on the evil empire of America and call for God to hasten the coming and he is cheered. We see before us a looming desire for the downfall of our country. Vicious dictators and terrorist supporters, call our country the aggressors, deny the holocaust ever happened and pin all their failings squarely on our shoulders, and the UN cheers them on.

This is not because of our policies in the Middle East. This is not due to any one administration’s failings or successes in that part of the world. This is not due to any war or military conflict that has occurred within the last century. The reasons for this are much more basic and less complicated. They were stated quite plainly by multiple Muslim extremist in response to the comments of Pope Benedict XVI. They will not stop until all the earth submits to Islam. Chavez’s rants are a simple matter of opportunity and desire to weaken our position as a Super Power.

You will note that they cite many of our actions and call them evil and oppressive, yet avoid brutal actions of other Super Powers. No mention was made of Russian injustices in Chechnya or of China’s totalitarian oppression of opposition. There was also no mention made of Iran violently suppressing students at the University or Tehran or of the 400,000 who recently marched in Oaxaca, Mexico over the slaughter of teachers and children by state police forces. No, the truly oppressive governments who kill and slaughter their own citizens were avoided. The effort of the United States to free millions from that very oppression was cited as the ultimate evil.

They failed to mention that when called upon by the world, not once, but twice this century, this nation has sacrificed the blood of her sons on foreign soil to free millions and end tyrannical occupation and subjugation. When called upon by individual nations, we have answered the call in defense of the right of millions to self govern. While we are the only nation to ever directly employ weapons of mass destruction, we have done so only as a last resort and never on our own citizens or to suppress opposition of political rivals. Once we have defeated our enemies, we then offer our hand, our sweat and our resources to re-establish their governments and build them up from the costs of war. We have pulled them from the ashes of defeat and befriended even our most mortal of enemies. We have never sought to conquer or rule those we have defeated or subjugate them to our beliefs. We have never told the world our war against you will not end until the entire planet believes as we command they do. This nation stands as a light and a beacon to all people who desire freedom. We desire it for you as well.

As the political left churns and lauds the statements against our nation by some of the most vicious leaders in our modern day, we stand before the abyss. As some in this country attempt to cripple our efforts to protect ourselves, we await the looming clash. As the Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey of Clifton put it in a statement earlier today, “the clash of civilizations endangering the world was not between Islamist extremists and the West, but with Islam as a whole.” We are facing a war of ideology from which there can arise no diplomatic solutions. In the same manner that we were unable to negotiate with Hitler and turn him from his vision of an Arian dominated world, we will be unable to curb the fanatical belief that Islam must dominate the planet. We are left with no choice. We must fight to defend ourselves and our way of life.

I hope we will find allies as the Islamic Fascists square off against other Christian nations. Some are already turning out such as the 35,000 who protested outside the UN today in support of Israel. Once Europe finally learns that it is not safe from the domination of this disease, we may find support. Or we may see a repeat of earlier years where countries like France surrender and we are left with a handful of allies to reclaim the world. However the chips may fall, we must be prepared and have the will to fight, or we might as well start teaching our children which direction Mecca is from their school.

I for one will never submit to such a future. This threat must be stopped.
